Dr. Clinton Wagner letter to Abby Hopper Gibbons.
|Creator||Wagner, Clinton, 1837-1914|
Written from a camp near Culpeper. The army is preparing to advance and cross the Rapidan River. Is confident that the Union Army will win the upcoming battle. Hopes to leave the field when the Army moves into winter quarters next month and asks for Gibbons' assistance, saying "If it is in your power to aid me at all in getting me out of the field, I am afraid that I will have to trouble you to exert your influence on my behalf." Would rather that he be in charge of a hospital than work as a hospital assistant in his next position. Will not be able to write for a while.
